Want to know my new nickname?

This morning Zebedee was chewing an empty plastic bottle. I went straight in and tried to get it from him. No permissions asked!

He couldn't believe it!

See? He's still looking at our people in disbelief. He didn't think I'd have the courage! It's as if he's saying: "Do I really have to put up with this?"

He tried to bite me so that I'd give up.

Ha! Me? Give up? Don't think so, big bro!

You're just going to have to share it with me.

He did manage to take the bottle from me at the end. So I barked at him. And he acted all surprised!

Then we went out in the garden. Zebedee stole my new toy, so of course I tried to get it back.

Give it back!

This is a completely illegal move from Zebedee, don't you think?

But I don't give up that easily, I tell you.

OK, so Zebedee is much bigger than me, so he can actually throw me about by shaking the toy in the air. What a bully. I will show him one day! (When I'm big enough.) I will tell him he shouldn't go and steal little puppies' little toys like that.

So anyway, my new nickname? Tigger The Fearless! If I want something back from Zebedee, I'm going and getting it back. I don't care how big he is.

In the afternoon my people took me out for a car ride. I'm not sure about the car, really - it wasn't very comfortable to travel in it without my bed. It was interesting to see where Zebedee goes out for walks, though. In the woods! There were lots of woods and shrubs and Zebedee was running around sniffing all kinds of smells and seeing all kinds of things. I can't wait to go scampering outdoors with him. I have to wait for one month until it's safe for me to go out in the woods and parks. I'm going to get my first vaccination tomorrow and second three weeks after that, and 10 days after the second jab I can safely run around wherever I want without the fear of catching any illnesses.

Until then I will have to travel in the puppy bag...

I had visitors today! Apart from my people's friends staying overnight for the past couple of nights, Zebedee's friend Ellen came over to meet me today! She was fun!

I played with Ellen outdoors, and indoors.

Notice the shoes on top of the keyboard. I really like carrying shoes around and sniffing and tasting them - well, OK, chewing them is the best... but they have started putting shoes out of my reach!

Zebedee barks at me sometimes, but today I thought I'd bark right back at him!

Take that! You're not the only one who can bark around here!

He was a bit surprised, I tell you!

I'm glad Zebedee is around, though, as he teaches me things I can do in the garden. Well, I just follow him around and 'watch and learn'. eating plants that are higher up.

Later in the day two men came to see me briefly. My people said to them that it is important for me to meet as many people and as many different kinds of people as possible in the first few months of my life, so that I get used to seeing all kinds of people and won't get surprised and intimidated by anyone when I get older. The men gave me kibble to eat and they were really nice!

Nights are not so bad any more. I still wake up every now and then and want to get out of my crate, but oh well, if they are not going to let me out during the night, I can always play with my toys a bit and then I fall asleep again pretty quickly.

Hey, I get it now. I can have a wee in the patio garden. Yeah, it's OK after all. I'd prefer to do it on grass, but I guess the patio tiles will have to do. My people have started taking me straight out every time I wake up after a nap, after I have played and been active, and after I have had some food. There has still been a couple of times I haven't been in the garden when I've had to go, but at least I know now that I can do it in the garden. Phew!

But the BIG thing I learned today is that I can walk down the stairs on my own! It's brilliant! Ready..... Steady.....

Sharp bend!

This time together with Zebedee.

It's fantastic!

Oh, by the way, I was playing tug-of-war with Zebedee today with that green piece of string you just saw in that photo. In fact, we were playing together a lot today! Zebedee is much more comfortable with me today. Lets me walk over him and everything!

Last night wasn't quite as bad as the one before, but still not fun at all. I don't like it when I have to stay in my crate! Is it going to be always like this? My days are full of fun, but nights are sooo long without contact with others. I wonder if I just have to get used to it.

Oh, I had an awful night! I cried so much!

I'd had so much fun with my new family all day yesterday that the night after it seemed to last forever! I didn't want to be on my own! I woke up many times during the night and I was lonely. When I woke at 5:30 again I couldn't go back to sleep. I cried and howled and whimpered but they didn't come to cuddle and comfort me. I finally fell asleep again and the next thing I knew was that the alarm went off and they came to wake me up. And then they cuddled me and talked to me and played with me. THEN I felt like I was the happiest puppy in the world! Finally I could be with them again! I was soooo happy that I ran right up to Zebedee and cuddled up to him close. Oh, it felt so good to be close to him! Zebedee was a little taken aback by my sudden burst of love, I admit. He looked like "Hey, I'm not THAT friendly with you yet" but he didn't shoo me away or anything. And my people played and laughed with me and everything was good again!

I spent much more time in the garden today.

It was a lovely day so I could sit and run and explore and do all kinds of things outdoors.

I tasted some plants.

...while Zebedee dissembled a free toy that had arrived with my food delivery.

It took him about two minutes to rip it into pieces. I secretly watched him so that I can do that, too, soon.

I learned to go up the stairs on my own today!

Walking down the stairs is really difficult, though. I need more practice.

Zebedee is letting me be close to him more.

But I still get the feeling that he prefers me to keep my distance a bit.

I really don't think I'm big enough to walk down the long flight of stairs yet. They look quite scary.

I like lying on top of things. Like these shoes that were on the floor.

This shoe was so comfortable as a bed that I fell asleep almost immediately.

Wonder what new things I will see and learn tomorrow!?

First night and first day in my new home

Do you want to see where I slept last night? Yes? OK, this is my bedroom:

This photo was taken this morning in bright light, but in the evening it was nice and dark. I like the bed these people have given me, so last night I just went to have a sleep in it after I'd been inside the crate a few times just to check it out. It was OK. But you know what? All of a sudden they closed the gate! I didn't know that I had to stay IN there, so I yelped a few times... but honestly, I was so tired from all the things that had happened during the evening that I just wanted to sleep.

I tell you what, though... Zebedee was going crazy last night; he sat next to my crate and made these weird noises, like muffled woofs. I guess he wanted to play with me or nibble me or something, but he wouldn't let it go... he went on for so long that my people had to tell him many times to be quiet. At the end he gave up and went to sleep, I guess. That's his bed next to my crate, by the way.

I woke up at 5:30 in the morning and cried a little. Zebedee came over to lie down next to my crate, and after a while I went back to sleep again... until 7:30 when the radio came on and I didn't want to be in my crate alone any more. I started making noises in hope of the people letting me out. I had to do that for a while, I tell you. When I finally got thoroughly fed up and gave up for a while, they came and opened the gate of my crate and took me downstairs. It was nice to see them again and nice to be talked to and to be held again.

So, the day started with some food and play and toilet etc. I spent some time in a play pen while my people worked at home. These people don't let Zebedee be with me all the time because, apparently, if I spend most of my time with another dog, then I won't create a strong bond with people as I grow up. I guess it might be true. I tell you what, though, Zebedee isn't happy with this line of thinking at all. He doesn't seem to get enough of me! When they did finally let Z come to the same room with me, he instantly wanted to enter my play pen! (I'm asleep here in my bed - you can just see my nose poking out above the side of it).

He was told not to, of course!

Yet, look at him! I'm fast asleep, and he's stalking me just behind the bars.

And here, almost like he's proudly guarding me!

Here's an aerial view of me sleeping in my play pen.

Oh, and a close-up of my nose. It's quite extraordinary, isn't it? (These people take a lot of photos, eh? Especially her.)

I became a bit more familiar with Zebedee today.

Oh and this thing that I'm playing with here is what they call "the puppy bag". They will take me out into the big world in it in a few days, I hear!

I love to play and explore, but of course I can't stay awake for long at any given time. Half an hour's worth of activity and I fall asleep again. I do like my bed, though. It's very comfy, however I sleep in it. This is a pose I call "puppy overflow".

In the afternoon the sun came out and I got to explore the garden more. Yesterday evening they took me to the garden first, to meet Zebedee there rather than "on his turf" indoors, but it was so cold that very soon they changed their mind and took us indoors. Anyway, here's me, sniffing the ground...

I do wonder about my new people, a little. One takes a lot of photos of me and the other one pulls my tail sometimes. If this kind thing carries on a lot, I may have to call the RSPCA.

So anyway, here's me taking an interest in what Zebedee is munching on.

But I decided to change my mind, play it cool and pretend that I wasn't interested what he was doing, really.

I don't reeeally have a bird feeder growing out of my head even if it looks like it here:

I have to say, Zebedee is quite cool about me trying to get his juicy twigs from him.

Not that he lets me have any that he's got hold of, but still.

Later on I realised that I can jump back indoors from the patio garden. It's not very a high jump, really. Oh, and they taught me to sit on command. It's a no-brainer, but I seemed to make them really pleased with themselves by sitting down when they gave me treats.

I still can't get on the sofa without help, though. I'm sure it won't take long before I can!

I have no idea where I'm supposed to go to the toilet. I heard her say a few times today that she's forgotten how she's supposed to teach me where to do it. I sure hope she will remember soon, as I haven't a clue what I'm supposed to do it at the moment. She interrupts me when I try to wee on the carpet, but where, then!? She takes me outside, but I can't wee in the patio garden as there is no grass there. What can I do?

Well, that's about it for today... I'm off to bed. See you tomorrow!
